At Copy Central, we’re proud to have one of the regions largest printing departments for a traditional print shop. Between our array of Xerox digital machine, and our offset process, we can deliver great color. However, if you’re looking for something extra to help your printables POP, we recommend having us coat your project. We use a TEC Lighting UV coater that allows us to coat your project right in-house.
What is UV Coating?
UV coating, or ultraviolet coating, is a very glossy, shiny liquid coating applied to a printed paper surface and cured on a printing press or special machine using ultraviolet light. The coating hardens, or cures when it is exposed to the ultra violet radiation.
Why Would I Want Print Coating?
Print coatings can help your printed products stand out by making them more durable, and more elegant. UV coating makes your printed piece eye catching, and is perfect for products such as postcards, hand-out sheets, presentation folders, business cards and catalogs, or any product that can benefit from a rich, glossy and dramatic look. UV coatings make details pop and stand out and are perfect for photographic images and company logos. Let’s face it, print is an investment of your marketing budget that needs to generate some return. Print coating helps give your printable a nice gloss or finished look (we can use matte coating, as well).
Can Coating Replace Lamination?
Absolutely! However, the plastic encapsulation used with lamination will be far more durable in the long run. However, if you’re looking to give your project a little protection, and give it a nice gloss look, coating is significantly cheaper than lamination, and a great solution. If you have a restaurant menu that changes quite often, re-printing the menu and coating will be far less expensive in the long run.
